I think THE TROUBLESHOOTER is as well-done a "pilot" to a new character-driven series as I have read. Hannibal is established as a solid protagonist with a oot of potential for different story opportunities, and the cast you assembled around him is first rate.

I have just finished The Troubleshooter and am most impressed. I met the author at the Bouchercon conference this past weekend and after hearing him on a panel, went to the dealers' room, bought the book and started reading. Hannibal Jones is believable, interesting and I was "hooked" from page 1. Can't wait to read the other books in the series. Hannibal Jones is a character with heart and soul and I give this book 5 stars!

First, thanks for the signing. Second, the book was great. I really enjoyed everything about it. I like everything about Hannibal Jones, and I look forward to reading the rest of his series. I hope the rest of the gang, minus Timothy, are involved in some of the other books. The book kind of reminded me of the movie "Original Gangstas" with Jim Brown and Pam Grier.

I honestly loved the book and Hannibal Jones and what he stood for. Ya know, I sometimes get into conversations with people about Black Role Models and how some of them actually should not be looked up to. (Save this one for another time but for example Pimps and Pushers) So it is refreshing to read something so positive.

Thanks for taking the time to talk to me and introducing me to your novel. You have a new fan of your series and I look forward to reading the rest of what you have.

Favorite Hannibal Jones - So Far

I loved this Hannibal Jones story. If Austin Camacho ever decides to give up writing, he should set up his easel. The descriptions of the people and places are amazingly vivid.

"Duck and Cover" - August 8, 2007

This was a great summer read which I finished all too soon in one weekend. At heart, this is a good story with interesting characters and little need to suspend disbelief. Camacho writes smoothly and paces the story well. The characters are interesting and not predictable, which is always a plus. He also writes great fight scenes. I'll recommend this to anyone looking for an action story set in the real world of Washington DC.

I just read your book, The Troubleshooter and I must say it was a most enjoyable book to read. It was the first time in a long time that I have read a book straight through cover to cover. I like how the setting took place in the DC area. It enabled me to envision where the action took place. This is a good series and I look forward to reading additional books with Hannibal Jones. He is a character I think I can get into. I like how his mind changed about his job. How it transformed from a job to responsibility. It was refreshing to encounter a character with a sense of honor and responsibility. Keep'em coming.

I just finished reading the Troubleshooter. It was a great story - since I went to business school in DC and worked there for 20 years, I knew the exact places in the book where the story takes place. It was very interesting to see how Jones was able to outsmart the drug dealers and how the entire community stands behind each other. I can't wait to read Austin Camacho's other books. It gives readers outside of the Capitol of the U.S. a look at real life. Mr. Camacho's writing style was very easy to stay with and the entire story was so interesting you kept wanting to read but really didn't want it to end.
